Cinema in the countryside!

Filmfestival Münster goes Münsterland!

125 years ago, Germany’s first permanent movie theater opened in Berlin. In the countryside, the rise of the cinema began primarily in inns and community rooms. Mobile projectionists brought moving pictures to onlookers via projectors. Today, many small cinemas and magnificent movie theaters have disappeared from rural areas – and with them a piece of the communal film experience. The Filmwerkstatt Münster wants to change that: With the film series “Kino aufs Land” (Cinema in the Countryside), it is touring through the Münsterland region and will be stopping off at three different locations from September 22 to 24: Wettringen, Vadrup and Darup.

Whether visually powerful, poetic or entertaining – at the movie nights in the Hotel zur Post, Piesers Gasthof and the Alter Hof Schoppmann, different visual worlds and genres meet on the screen. In addition to current short films from the festival selection, the evening program also includes selected productions from the region. After all, Münsterland itself is often the scenery for exciting film projects! In cooperation with the Münster Film Festival, the event series not only brings film art to the countryside, but also the minds behind it. In conversation with filmmakers, the short film evenings not only invite the audience to sink into their armchairs, but also to celebrate the encounter and the shared film experience.
