The 19th edition of the Filmfestival Münster takes place in September 2021 at the Schloßtheater Münster. The festival is inviting entries for the two central competitions. For the second time this year, the European Feature Film Competition is exclusively open for debut films. The traditional short film competition, which has been at the heart of the festival for 40 years, will be extended this year for the second time to productions from all over Europe. The deadline for both competitions is 1 June 2021.
European Feature Film Competition for Debut Films
In the European Feature Film Competition, eight fictional feature films from European production will be invited. The films selected will give a new impetus to European cinema and will be distinguished by their exceptional narrative or visual language. Young filmmakers are invited to Münster to present their first film produced for theatrical release. An international jury will award a prize for the best directing (endowed with 5,000 euros).
European Short Film Competition
For the second time, this competition will be open to the whole of Europe. All genres, themes and forms of expression are welcome – narrative, documentary, animated, experimental, even music videos – the competition thus paints a vivid picture of the current short film scene in Europe. Both a jury and the audience select their favourites, which are awarded prizes for young talent.
